Auckland Chapter 1.4 - Picnic at Devonport

A beautiful sunny day. We took this chance to go Devonport which nearby Auckland CBD.

The Devonport shops contain a fair array of antiques, gift & book shops as well a number of good cafes and restaurants making it a popular destination for tourists and Aucklanders. People often travel over from Auckland on the ferry for dinner, the starry sky and glittering lights of Auckland on the return trip being very beautiful.

Auckland Chapter 1.3 - Queenstreet

Queenstreet is the must in Auckland. It is the major commercial place & main street in Auckland. As a backpacker, 4 shops you need to look for :

1. X base backpackers (main street) - they may help you on job finding, check on their notice board

2. Recycle Boutique (Located behind The Body Shop) - offer a lot of 2nd hand clothes, or you can trade tour clothes here.

3. Kathmandu (main street) - One of NZ famous & backpackers favorite outdoor clothing and equipment brand. On sale in most of the time. Show your YHA card in order to get their summit club free membership.

4. Three sisters 三姐妹 (Located near X base) - selling IDD card, insurance, phone card etc with cheapest rate.

Auckland Chapter 1.1 - Arrival

New Zealand, my most wanted country to travel. I can't imagine I got the chance to stay here up to 9 months.

On the plane, I saw green field, blue sea & sky. Too excited, I can’t wait to step on the land of the long white cloud which called Aotearoa in Maori.

I was stayed at Auckland 威沙客栈 on the first week. It operating by a friendly Taiwanese couple. They can bring you for bank account opening & IRD registration. $120 per week.

I would suggest this homestay if you have your own transport. As it located at Manuka, about  40 minutes  from Auckland city by bus.

For those without transport, I would recommend you to stay at X base which located at city central- Queen Street. Book it from naked bus website with the cheapest rate, starts from $18. X base may help you on seeking job.
